Singapore
You can be here in February for about €767, 4 days, direct.
Why now
Good time in February: 30°C days, 20 rainy days.
The weather barely changes, so timing is about events: the Formula 1 race week sends hotel rates up sharply, Chinese New Year closes many hawker stalls, and the haze from Indonesian fires can arrive in the dry months. Long weekends bring Malaysians in and Singaporeans out.
Best months here: January, February, September. Daytime highs, sea temperature and rainy days from three years of Open-Meteo reanalysis; a rainy day is one with at least 1 mm of rain, which is the WMO threshold and not the same as "it drizzled". This page stands for a whole country, and its weather is measured at one point — 1.35°, 103.82°, near Singapore. Somewhere else in Singapore the numbers will differ.
The place

Singapore is a city-state that works: air-conditioned, orderly, expensive, with the best cheap food in Asia served in hawker centres run by the state. Under the malls and towers there are shophouse districts, a rainforest reserve and a serious contemporary art scene. It suits stopovers and people who want tropical Asia with the friction removed.
What you can do
- 01Eat at Maxwell, Tiong Bahru and Old Airport Road hawker centres; chicken rice, char kway teow, laksa.
- 02Walk Tiong Bahru's 1930s flats, then Chinatown's shophouses to the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple.
- 03See Gardens by the Bay's Cloud Forest, then cross to the Marina Bay Sands skypark or the free rooftop bars.
- 04Spend a morning at the National Gallery in the old Supreme Court and City Hall.
- 05Walk the MacRitchie treetop trail or Bukit Timah's rainforest before the heat.
Where to stay · neighbourhoods
Chinatown, Tanjong Pagar or Kampong Glam for walking and food; Orchard Road only for shopping, and Sentosa only for a resort weekend.

- ◦Gillman Barracks' galleries in old army buildings, and the Southern Ridges walk beyond them.
