Da Nang
You can be here in October for about €323, 3 days, direct.
Why now
Good time in October: 29°C days, 29 rainy days, sea 29°C, fares below average.
The dry, hot months are beach season; the autumn rains bring flooding to Hoi An's old town, sometimes waist-deep, and grey days in Da Nang. The full-moon lantern nights in Hoi An are a draw and a crush; the Da Nang fireworks festival fills hotels for weeks.
Best months here: March, April, November. October is not one of them — the label above measures the month against a fixed bar, not against the rest of the year here. Daytime highs, sea temperature and rainy days from three years of Open-Meteo reanalysis; a rainy day is one with at least 1 mm of rain, which is the WMO threshold and not the same as "it drizzled".
The place

Da Nang is a modern beach city of bridges and high-rises with a long, clean strip of sand; Hoi An, 40 minutes south, is the preserved trading port of lanterns, tailors and tour groups. Between them are the Marble Mountains and My Son's Cham ruins. The pair suit people who want a beach and a cultural town in the same trip, and can plan around Hoi An's crowds.
What you can do
- 01Cycle from Hoi An through the rice fields to An Bang beach, and back for a sunset river boat.
- 02Eat cao lau and white rose dumplings in Hoi An, mi quang and banh xeo in Da Nang.
- 03Climb the Marble Mountains' caves and pagodas at Ngu Hanh Son, early.
- 04Drive the Hai Van Pass by car or motorbike, towards Hue or as a loop.
- 05Get a suit or dress made in Hoi An; allow two fittings over three days.
Where to stay · neighbourhoods
Split nights between An Bang or the edge of Hoi An's old town and My Khe beach in Da Nang; hotels inside the old town are charming but the streets fill from mid-morning to late evening.
