Seychelles
You can be here in October for about €1,294, 3 days, 1 stop.
Why now
Prime time in October: 27°C days, sea 28°C.
The calm months between the two trade winds give the flattest seas for snorkelling and island hopping; the southeast trades bring seaweed to some east-facing beaches and rougher ferry crossings. Hotel rates track European school holidays more than the weather.
Best months here: June, October, November. Daytime highs, sea temperature and rainy days from three years of Open-Meteo reanalysis; a rainy day is one with at least 1 mm of rain, which is the WMO threshold and not the same as "it drizzled". This page stands for a whole country, and its weather is measured at one point — -4.62°, 55.45°, near Victoria. Somewhere else in Seychelles the numbers will differ.
The place

The Seychelles are granite islands, not coral ones, which is why the beaches have those rounded boulders and the interiors are forested hills rather than flat sand. Mahé is a real place with a capital, buses and a Creole kitchen; La Digue is bicycles and ox-carts; Praslin sits between. It suits people who want to move around rather than sit in one resort.
What you can do
- 01Cycle La Digue to Anse Source d'Argent, then walk on to Grand Anse across the island.
- 02Walk the Vallée de Mai on Praslin, where the coco de mer palms grow.
- 03Hike the Morne Blanc trail on Mahé for the view over the west coast.
- 04Eat a Creole fish curry with breadfruit chips at a takeaway in Victoria.
- 05Snorkel off Anse Lazio or take a boat to Curieuse for the giant tortoises.
Where to stay · neighbourhoods
Split the trip across Mahé and Praslin or La Digue rather than staying in one place; self-catering guesthouses are the local norm and cost far less than the resorts.
Unusual things
- ◦The Sunday Creole lunch at a plantation house such as Jardin du Roi in the hills above Anse Royale.
- ◦Aride Island nature reserve, a seabird colony reached by a small boat from Praslin when the sea allows.
- ◦Victoria's Sir Selwyn Clarke market on a Saturday morning, when the fish and spice stalls are busiest.

Good to know
Strong currents and rip tides make some beaches, notably Anse Intendance and Grand Anse on La Digue, dangerous for swimming in the southeast trade-wind months.
