Bermuda
You can be here in October for about €2,003, 4 days, 1 stop.
Why now
Good time in October: 25°C days, 16 rainy days, sea 26°C, fares below average.
The season runs through the northern summer, when the water is warm and the ferries and beach services are full; winter is mild, blustery and quiet, with lower rates and a swimmable sea only for the hardy. Cup Match and the sailing regattas fill the island for their days.
Best months here: June, September, October. Daytime highs, sea temperature and rainy days from three years of Open-Meteo reanalysis; a rainy day is one with at least 1 mm of rain, which is the WMO threshold and not the same as "it drizzled". This page stands for a whole country, and its weather is measured at one point — 32.30°, -64.78°, near Hamilton. Somewhere else in Bermuda the numbers will differ.
The place

Bermuda is not Caribbean, a fact it will remind you of: a British overseas territory alone in the North Atlantic, pink-sand coves, pastel houses with white stepped roofs, and an insurance economy that keeps the place expensive and orderly. It suits people who want beaches with golf, history and a two-hour flight from the US east coast, not nightlife.
What you can do
- 01Walk Horseshoe Bay early, then the small coves east along the South Shore park before the cruise buses.
- 02Take the ferry from Hamilton to the Royal Naval Dockyard and the National Museum in the fortifications.
- 03Wander St George's, the oldest English town in the New World, and the unfinished church on the hill.
- 04Snorkel Tobacco Bay or Church Bay, or dive the wrecks that give the island its reputation.
- 05Eat a fish sandwich on raisin bread and a rum swizzle at the Swizzle Inn.
Where to stay · neighbourhoods
Hamilton for ferries and restaurants, the South Shore for beaches; guesthouses and self-catering in the parishes cost less than the resorts. Visitors cannot hire cars, so choose a base near a ferry or bus route.
Unusual things
- ◦The Crystal and Fantasy caves at Bailey's Bay, clear underground lakes with pontoon walkways.
- ◦The Railway Trail, the route of the island's short-lived railway, walkable and cyclable across the parishes.
- ◦Spittal Pond nature reserve, the largest wildlife area, with Portuguese Rock's 16th-century carving.
